Issue Position: Freedom of Religion

Issues: Religion

As a Christian, I see my rights being trampled and trimmed away a little more each day. People who stand up for traditional marriage, speak out against abortion, or believe in traditional morals, are accused of being bigots and spewing hate.

The first settlers came to the American continent seeking religious freedom. The founding fathers used the Bible as a foundation for our set of laws.

Thomas Jefferson wrote about a "wall of separation" between church and state. Jefferson was not espousing a government that prevented Christians from being able to worship. He was stating that the government has no right to establish a religion or require its citizens to worship in a particular way.

We, as Christians, must be allowed the freedom to practice our faith in the way we choose.

Further, we as Christians must be allowed to discuss the teachings of the Bible without fear of government recrimination.
